This story is a very sad story, but at the same time a good one. I saw this story one morning on TV a couple weeks ago on the morning news. I felt so bad for the big sister that got hit, but at the same time it was touching. The big sister  Anaiah Rucker showed a huge amount of courage and braveness. She sacrifice her own life to save her little sister Camry from being hit by the car.

Anaiah is only 9 years old and her sister is 5. Can you imagine a 9 year old risking her life to save her 5 year old sister. I don't know to many kids that would have done that at that age. She was simply saving her sister because  "I thought she was too young," is what she told reporters. She has lost a leg and a kidney and came very close to death all for her little sister that she loves.

I think this is the best hero anyone can ask for. Someone who can risk their own life to save a loved one. She's not a police officer, a firefight, or anything like that just a normal little girl on her way to school with her little sister. I found this story very interesting and touching, it almost makes you cry. I feel bad for the little girl and the damages she received, but I think she is a very brave girl.

  1. I really liked your choice of real life hero. She is someone who we cannot just praise for her heroic act but also someone we can learn from. Most of us are too busy that we might even forget to call our siblings for weeks but she made a choice to save her sister's life in a matter of seconds which shows that she had a great sense to protect her sister even before the incident. Thanks for sharing this story on your blog.

  2. WOW, that is what I can really say about this. A older sister sacrificing herself and well being for the safety of her sister is astounding. I praise her for being brave and selfless, to do what is right. This is one of those cases where people become heroes not on planning but on instinct, she didn't have time to think of anything else. I congratulate her on her valiant efforts.

  3. This is definitely a love story! This 9-year-old girl deserves to have a formal recognition for the great courage that allowed her to save her little sister. Her act not only changed her sister’s life but also hers, as well. Indeed, it’s unbelievable how your life can change in a couple of seconds. The older sister’s love for her little sister was stronger than the one she had for herself. She gave up her own interests to defend that of her sister’s. It’s also admirable the older sister’s sense of responsibility and protection for her sister. As an older sister, I know how it’s like to watch out for your little siblings. I’m sure the little sister will always be thankful with her.
