Primary Source (Notice and Focus)
My primary source was on batmen. The first this that caught my eye when I seen the photo was batmen beating a man that looked to be a bad guy. Then in the background I seen the police pointing guns at him. The first thing I thought about is why are they point the guns at him. Then I began to think to look for clues and thats when I notice the police hat laying next to the man he was beating. I start then looking at the man closely and noticed a pin on the mans collar. Then as I began to look more at the picture. The uniform he had on and the hat laying next to him was was the same as the officers. Batmen was beating a cop is what it showed and that he was beating him to death. There was blood on his fist and coming from the officer. The next question that arose is why he was beating a cop and why the officers hadn't open fire on him yet? Maybe he was a bad cop because it looked as if they were in a alley and it was dark out. The cops may not have opened fired because they were scared of him who knows. Reading the book is the only way to find out why it is seemed as batmen is a anti-hero.

Hey Tyreen,
ReplyDeleteEven though I don’t have access to your picture, I have a good idea of what you’re describing, which is good! I think you did a pretty good job answering the question ‘What do you notice?’, which is key in the Notice and Focus method. It looks like you have a good eye. However, I would like to know what were the elements in this image that struck you the most and why. So, I guess that your next step would be to rank the features that you noticed. Also, I would like to know more about the facial expression of these characters, and the method used by batman to beat the cop. I notice that you’ve come up with a very interesting question, and that you’ve tried to answer it based on what you’ve seen. I would suggest you keep doing this, without actually reading the book, since this is a visual rhetorical analysis, where pretty much everything is arguable. In other words, keep breaking down this picture into manageable parts, and you’ll realize that you’ll come up with strong plausible answers to your questions. P.S. I might be totally wrong! Ask Ms. Dickens!
Batman, one of my personally favorite characters, seems to be slightly flawed in this picture. You did a nice job of using descriptive words to paint a picture of what you saw. I felt that I could actually see the picture as whole. I would like for you to look deeper into the facial expressions on the characters, describe how they look and what they must be feeling. You noticed quite a bit about the picture as of now and have a really good start. As Gisselle, said you need to take the items that you noticed initially, the ones that caught your attention first and then put them in a numerical sequence of importance. Keep up the good work GOOD LUCK!!!
